Below are sample classes taught at Adobe Art Center. For specific class offerings, please see our Recreation Guide.
Learn and practice pottery as an art form in our peaceful classroom environments. We are one of the few programs in the bay area to offer gas high temperature glaze (cone 10) reduction firings as well as alternatives for firing. Fees include glazes and firing. Participants must pre-purchase clay at class and provide their own tools. Starter tool kits are available for purchase at class. Beginners learn the techniques of wheel throwing, hand building, sculpture and high-fire glazing. Intermediate students continue instruction in basic techniques and are encouraged to bring ideas for individual projects. There is also advanced instruction in extended throwing, lidded forms, and altered pieces. With each form, glaze and decoration ideas are discussed to emphasize unity of surface and form. There will be regular demonstrations to meet individual interest. Each class can accommodate all levels. Choose the time and day that is convenient for you.
