The planned electrical upgrade to our administration building has been delayed. The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District Office will be open for business on Monday, August 18 and all online registration and email will be available. Once a new date for the upgrade has been established we will make that information available. Thank you!
Due to drought conditions being declared the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District has initiated a water conservation program. The use of water for irrigation of park facilities will be reduced as much as possible. In addition, all fountains that use non-recycled water will be turned off, which will include the water feature at Castro Valley Community Center Park, effective July 7. Cannery Park, slated to open soon, will also have a water feature, which will be operational as it uses recycled water. The District has set a goal of an overall savings of at least 20% district-wide. We are asking for the public’s patience and understanding during this period when our parks unfortunately won’t be as green as any of us would like. You can assist us in meeting our goals by reporting any leaks, broken valves or other problems that could potentially waste water to our Parks and Maintenance Department at 510 881-6715 or by email at parkdept@haywardrec.org.
