Youth Programs
Reservations are required for all of the following programs. These have been filling up fast, so sign up early!  Click here to register online. Enter the class number in the keyword search box.

Youth Nature Classes
Youth Nature Classes are designed for ages 3-5, 4-7, 6-12.  Each class will focus on an animal adaptation that is used to help it survive.  Students will meet live animals up close and complete a special project or craft based on the featured adaptation.

Come find out about all sorts of nests as we visit the dove, chinchilla, oriole, and mouse. Search for nests onthe trail, and experiment with some nesting materials yourself.

Spring Flowers
– Discover why animals like flowers as we visit the tortoise, guinea pig, and dove. Create a hummingbird and search for spring flowers and creatures visiting them.

Visit our furry friends from the pet library and watch to see who wins the pet races. (No charge for siblings under one year.)

Tadpole Search Fieldtrip
– Meet us at Dry Creek in Union City to search for tadpole and wonderful water creatures. Use nets to help you get an      up-close look at these special creatures. Make a floating toy, too. Directions to the meeting location will be sent the week before the program.

Defying Cockroaches
– Imagine being able to move a mountain or stop a speeding train. Feats of strength are an important adaptation needed by many animals to survive. Discover the hidden strength of a cockroach as you create an experiment to calculate his muscle power. You will use scientific methods to predict, experiment, and analyze. Conforms to California Educations State Standards.
