The Japanese Garden Wedding Site is available for rent during daylight hours for weddings on a year-round basis. The Japanese Garden is located right next to the Hayward Senior Center on North Third Street at Crescent in Hayward. The Wedding Site is located on the lower loop pathway near the entrance to the Garden. The number of persons attending cannot exceed fifty (50) and there is no alcohol, food or beverage allowed. Applications may be submitted not less than thirty (30) days or more than eleven (11) months in advance. The Garden is not available on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. To check availability please call the Recreation District Office at (510) 881-6700 between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday though Friday. If your date is available the site will be held for you for three (3) business days. Within that period you will need to come to the District Office, pay a non-refundable $50 deposit and complete all the necessary paperwork. The rates for a 3-hour block of time are $175 for residents, $300 for non-residents plus a $250 refundable cleaning/security deposit. Security deposit must be paid by cash or credit only. District residents should be prepared to show proof of residency in order to secure the discounted resident rate. A current photo identification or utility bill will suffice. This process should take approximately 30 minutes. Any balance due must be paid in full 30 days prior to your event.

The Wedding Site is located on the south lawn area on the Hampton side of Meek Mansion. The number of persons attending shall not exceed 250 and the consumption of alcohol is prohibited. Applications may be submitted not less than thirty (30) days or more than eleven (11) months in advance. Occasionally, the District may find it necessary to reschedule, relocate, or
perhaps cancel a previously approved function. In that event, the District will
give as much advance notice as possible. In the event of a cancellation, the
entire rental fee (including all deposits) will be refunded.
