For the past 10 years Suzanne has dedicated every Tuesday afternoon to working in the Wildlife Hospital. Her main duties involve care of the resident turtles and tortoises, cleaning cages and preparing diets. She loves to enhance the lives of resident animals by bringing fresh greens from her own and her neighbors yards which are instantly devoured by of many of our critters. She is also a big hit with the Lending Library animals as she passes out treats such as sunflower seeds during her shift. Throughout her weekly shifts, Suzanne is instrumental in training new volunteers and is amazingly thorough in the final cleanup at the days end. Everything sparkles and shines.
Suzanne is reliable, hard-working, kind, and fun to work with. She is generous to a fault and has a passion for sharing chocolates of any kind, for any occasion, with all the volunteers and staff. As a retired elementary principal, she comes with the gift of compassion which is very important when working with a variety of volunteers in ages, temperament, and personalities. In her free time, she is dedicated to caring and fostering cats and is a "Driver for Survivors," that takes cancer patients to and from local hospitals for Chemo treatments. Suzanne is truly an asset to the Park District and is well deserving to receive this Board of Directors Volunteer of the Month Award.
