December 2019

Mrs. Caroline Nkenke works in the Senior Nutrition Program at the Hayward Area Senior Center three times a week for the past two years.  She helps set up for lunch, serve and then clean up after lunch. Working in the kitchen can be physically demanding, by being on your feet and doing heavy lifting and cleaning.  In addition, nutrition volunteers take a food safety test in order to treat food with high safety standards.   The lunch program is very important as it serves a healthy and well-balanced meal for approximately 30 seniors each day.  This is often the only hot meal seniors get on a daily basis. She also helps with special events, such as Dinner and Dances and the annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.

Mrs. Caroline Nkenke is dependable, enthusiastic, and makes a great, positive impact in the senior programming every week by keeping the participants and staff happy and smiling! She loves to listen to good music and cook good food for her family. Caroline has infinite patience, and is driven by passion of helping others. You can always depend on Mrs. Caroline to bring a smile and helping hand! She is a great asset to the Hayward Area Recreation & Park District and is very deserving to receive the Board of Directors Volunteer of the Month Award.
