Mr. Norm Kaiser is being recognized as the Volunteer of the Month for his longtime volunteer service in H.A.R.D.’s Volunteer Program. Norm has volunteered in the Annual Adopt a Family Program since its beginning in 1998- over 23 years! Norm was looking for volunteer service for himself and his sons and came across the Adopt a Family Program. Each year he adopts 3-5 families, by purchasing gifts, clothes, food and even pet supplies for those who have pets. Not only does Norm adopt the families, but each year he has delivered gifts, and helped load gifts, food and other items to those families who participate in the program. Norm has also enrolled his sons and fellow workers from the Port of Oakland to help in this holiday tradition. “Can’t believe it….Amazed…. God bless you and your organization” are actual words from recipients of the Adopt a Family Program, who are so grateful for the program and help. In addition to his volunteer service in the Volunteer Program Norm also volunteers at the Alameda County Food Bank and volunteers in the Citizen School Program in Oakland Unified School District. Norm is a true leader, contributor to our society and mentor to young people. Norm reluctantly accepted this nomination; however, he is very deserving. He has shown his dedication and has contributed steadfastly and regularly for over 20 years and his volunteer service and donations are greatly appreciated.
