Geneva Lum Ms. Geneva Lum was awarded the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for August 2013 for her volunteer service at the Castro Valley Swim Center as a Volunteer Water Safety Instructor Aide and a Junior Lifeguard.
Approximately 2,000 customers visited the Swim Center during our Recreational Swimming program and approximately 2,000 swimmers were enrolled in our swim lesson programs this past summer. Geneva eagerly assisted the swimming instructors with their classes in every way possible. She is knowledgeable in all skills and was able to demonstrate and help teach the students. While out of the water, Geneva was a great help to the staff in the office by always greeting customers with a smile and doing whatever was needed to help our program run smoothly.
Geneva has been around the HARD Aquatics program for some time. Her sisters Bethany and Rebecca are both prior volunteers of the HARD Aquatics program and are now on HARD staff as Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors. Her desire to become a lifeguard is evident in all she does. She always tries her best and can complete most tasks without much direction.
Geneva is what all Aquatics Volunteers should aspire to be! She loves being in and around the pool, and it shows in the smile that is on her face every day. Geneva was involved in many activities this summer outside of the pool, but she always arrived on time and completed all necessary tasks to the best of her ability. She is very driven, expects the best out of herself in every task, and wiill be a GREAT lifeguard one day!
Geneva’s picture will be displayed in the District Administration Office as the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Awardee for August 2013. In addition, she will be eligible for the Volunteer of Year Award for 2013.
