May 2012

Marcie Zimmerman
Ms. Marcie Zimmerman who has been volunteering in the Senior Adult Program at the Kenneth C. Aitken Senior and Community Center for over 7.5 years was selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for May 2012.

Ms. Zimmerman is an integral part of the Kenneth C. Aitken Senior Center, where she volunteers for the Tuesday and Thursday Café lunch program since she first became a volunteer.  She also helps train new volunteers to get them acquainted with their kitchen duties.  Marcie has shown great dedication to the Kenneth C. Aitken Senior Center and has become a great role model for the other dedicated volunteers in the kitchen.

In addition to her kitchen duties, Marcie also volunteers at many special events at the Center throughout the year, some of which include helping prepare meals and snacks at the spring and fall flea markets, the Senior Health and Wellness Resource Fair, the Ice Cream Social and the Holiday High Tea.  If all of the above are not enough, Marcie also looks after the other volunteers when they are not feeling well by checking on them at their homes and bringing over soups and meals that she has prepared for them, and is very deserving of the Board of Directors’ Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award. She will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2012.
