Jack Harrar

Jack volunteers in the Senior/Active Adult Program during Income Tax season.  He started volunteering his services over 8 years ago at the Kenneth Aitken Senior Center.  As a tax volunteer Jack goes through a week-long training every January to learn new tax laws and updates on computer software taught by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and the IRS.  He then must pass a complicated test at the advanced preparer level in order to volunteer.

Jack normally volunteers over 100 hours in just 4 months per year.  He has helped hundreds of low to moderate income seniors and families prepare their income taxes through the years.  He is a highly sought after preparer for his attention to detail and extensive tax law knowledge.

Being a volunteer in the tax program is a very demanding job that requires face to face work with participants who must file their Federal and State Income Tax Returns.

Jack’s experience, knowledge and his kind demeanor make people feel at ease with him during a process which can be very stressful.  Hundreds of clients are able to take advantage of having their income taxes done for free because of individuals like Jack. Jack is very dependable and a great asset to the Senior Programs and we are pleased to acknowledge him and thank him for his volunteer services at the Kenneth Aitken Senior Center.
