The basketball court at Deerview Park feels and looks like it has been neglected for quite some time. Not only are the basketball hoops run down and outdated but the court itself has cracks throughout which is not safe for the children and people who play on it. There is also a large tree that is overgrown over one of the hoops making one side of the court useless because the branches block shots from that area. I know that the recent election passed a measure granting funds for park improvements and I believe this should be a priority. I think this update will be appreciated by many and attract more players to use the court, which is what it is intended to do.

Currently, during the covid-19 pandemic, the nearby tennis courts are being resurfaced with bond money according to signage. Meanwhile, the lone area basketball court other than Green Ridge has been in disrepair for years. The court is sorely in need of resurfacing (cracks and weeds everywhere - unsafe), new back boards (have been reattached by players numerous times to supports), rims, nets, outdoor lighting (as the tennis courts have possessed for years) and the water fountain is non-functioning (has been this way for decades). In addition, the signage between the basketball court and tennis courts is markedly biased and with the prioritizing of the tennis courts being resurfaced speaks of elitism. Since the rims have been removed from both courts and the court is currently closed, now would be an opportune time to do the renovations listed above. Lastly, I would like to know how to contact the decision maker for this facility and when these renovations will be completed?

The Hayward Girl Scout Cabin in Memorial Park needs new gas & water lines. The gas is rotted out and shut off. We are unable to heat the cabin in winter. The water out of the tap is often rusty. There is no longer water on the outside, making it difficult to fill large water containers used by the camps to keep the girls hydrated or safety during outdoor cooking. The Chabot Service Unit (Castro Valley & Hayward) serves 452 girls. The Cabin is also used and jointly managed by the neighboring Service Unit of Dos Pueblos - San Leandro & San Lorenzo with approximately 300 girls. We run troop meetings, Service Unit meetings, and 2 Day Camps out of the Hayward Girl Scout Cabin. The cabin centrally located in Alameda County making it an ideal place for the 10 Service Units to meet for jointly planning events. The schools no longer let us use their spaces with out a hefty fee. Please help us keep this valuable resource alive by replacing the gas and waterlines.

The cracks are getting worse everyday, plus kids bring there skateboard inside and even some people play baseball and cricket inside the Tennessee court.
We try to call the park police one time but nobody comes.
They closed the rest early too, so when we play till 9:00 the restroom is already close.
How about putting a porta toilet or giving us a key to the restroom by applying a key so that not everybody or you can screen the person applying for a key.
Also, it is great if we could use the Ochoa Tennis court during weekends in that way we maximize the use for the lifespan of the tennis court pavement.

The Harder/Tennyson and surrounding communities need a place for children, parents and caretakers with strollers, the elderly, joggers, and disabled people alike to get outside and move without the dangers of traversing a severely uneven and buckling pathway. I look forward to working with the parks to see that this is accomplished. Please let me know, as a resident of Harder/Tennyson, and frequent jogger of the trial at Weekes park, if I can help in any way to make this happen.

I live in the upper grove neighborhood, and according to the HARD brochure we have a neighborhood park called the "Laurel Park" (it is labeled as "Tot lot park onsite).
It is a small area overgrown with weeds. However it is big enough for a playground and some picnic tables.
Our neighborhood does not have any other park at all. The green area in the school next to the park is fenced off.
It would be great to have this be a place where the community could get together and my son could play
The exact location is on Idena Ave and Ione Ave in Castro Valley. See this picture on google maps: https://www.google.com/maps/@37.6874752,-122.0712005,3a,75y,122.53h,72.68t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sHtOOO1JON8kPk-dckXqkug!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1.

Hi! My name is Erick and I live near Silver Star Veterans Park. We always go in this park almost every day and every sunday to enjoy playing basketball with our friends and fellow neighbors. However, i believe that the basketball court needs to be repaired and resurfaced as its cement is already exposed and it poses danger to those people who are playing in the court. It will also be great if we can repaint the basketball backboard and the basketball ring net. Thank you very much. Looking forward to a more safe and cozy SSV Park. Thank you!

I could potentially see a liability lawsuit. And i think the admission is way too high for an old park like this. Upgrade the park and make it more modern .

Make the Ball Dispensing machines the same at each golf course so that we can use the same card to get golf balls at the driving range.

There are also high voltage Transmission lines in the middle of residential neighborhood. The overgrowth is a high wildfire risk that should be cut back every year.

I'm a Hayward resident living in the Canterbury Community of Homes and had a few small concerns related to the Silver Star Veterans Park near my home. My family and I have been living in this neighborhood since 2006, and have enjoyed this great, little park for years. Lately it's been taken over my weeds and cats and the playground by grafitti. It would be nice to see it restored back to its original look. Thanks

HARD needs to invest more into improving the Castro Valley Skateboard Area. CV Parks are small and crowded but enjoyed by many! There is only one centrally located basketball court, several sites have no bathrooms and the very tiny skateboard park is run down and wore out. CV youth have very limited recreational choices. Why is the CV Skate Park so poorly designed, rundown and under funded? CV youths need HARD to advocate for their needs to have safe & accessible areas for recreation. Next to the rundown skate park is a Bocce Ball area that is rarely used. But, it does have two areas that have permanent shade structure while the skate park has none. Many CV youths are home alone while parents work. Why can't a larger area be design and built at the Adobe Park so kids can skate or ride their bikes. It is a safe area for kids and centrally located in town for all. Bocce Ball players are mostly at an age they can drive enabling them to travel to a HARD park the many CV youths can't get to

I just wanted that Sacramento the groundkeeper for JA Lewis park is more than excellent on a 5 star scale I would give him 7. He takes care of even the little things to make our park special.
